There are few moments in life that take your breath away quite like witnessing two people step into the sacred covenant of marriage, surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation, in a beautiful winter wonderland wedding. Erik and Marlene’s wedding was exactly that—a stunning, snow-covered celebration on a mountainside in Portland at the Columbia River Gorge. As the snow gently fell, blanketing the trees and the earth in a pristine white, it was impossible not to be reminded of
Isaiah 1:18: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
This day was a perfect reflection of God’s love, covering them as they entered into this new chapter together.
Family and friends gathered despite the cold, their hearts warm with joy as they watched Erik and Marlene exchange vows. The laughter, the tears, and the love shared among them made the day even more special.
Marriage is more than a ceremony—it is a covenant, a promise not only to each other but before God. “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
(Mark 10:9).
Standing in the midst of the towering pines, under a sky painted with soft winter hues, we couldn’t help but feel the presence of the One who designed love itself.
Capturing their day was an absolute honor. Even though there were definitely moments where Johnny and I truly thought we might take our last breath right there and freeze to death. We stuck it out, gripped our cameras tight and kept capturing all these amazing moments.
The way they looked at each other, the way their hands trembled slightly as they held on tightly—it was pure, beautiful, and deeply meaningful.
And now, as they step into this new season of parenthood, welcoming their sweet baby girl into the world, we are overjoyed for them. Children are a gift from the Lord, and we pray that their home is filled with love, laughter, and the abundant blessings of God.
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” (Psalm 127:3).
Oh, and let’s not forget the wild adventure we had getting home! What was supposed to be a 10-hour drive turned into a 16-hour trek through a blinding snowstorm. We were literally driving in a white box, barely able to see a thing, with snow flurries dancing across the pavement. Road closures and endless detours had us questioning if we’d ever make it back—but we were determined! After an insane amount of caffeine (seriously, I thought our hearts were going to explode), we finally pulled into our driveway around 2 AM. Crazy? Absolutely. But what an unforgettable story to wrap up an already breathtaking wedding weekend!
Erik and Marlene, your love story is just beginning, and we are so grateful to have witnessed a part of it.
May your marriage be a reflection of Christ’s love for the church—sacrificial, steadfast, and full of grace. May your home always be a haven of peace, and may God bless your beautiful family in abundance.
With so much love, Rain + Johnny
